Montesshare

Montesshare

Montesshare is a Montessori, Spanish bilingual preschool in an intimate, home environment for 3 to 6 year olds.

We offer 2, 3 or 5 day a week options from 8:45AM – 12:45PM.

We have two Montessori teachers guiding 7 to 13 children. Our Montessori classroom sits on the sunny, spacious first floor of a home in Alexandria (22315). We are licensed by the State of Virginia.

We all know Early Childhood is an important time in the life of the child; it is an important time in the lives of parents, too! At Montesshare, we work to honor and ease that time for both you and your child. We are building a community of families who value not only the structure and freedom inherent in Montessori education, but the connection, as well.

Montesshare was birthed from Joy Wilder’s desire for an affordable, Montessori, Spanish bilingual education for her own four children. She draws on her experience co-founding TOTH Montessori (Best of D.C. Preschools three years and counting!), her deep desire to help families thrive and a commitment to the science of child development and education in order to create this beautiful Montessori space. She loves equipping parents to parent for more moments of appreciation and peace with their child!

As a state licensed, in-home program, you and your child will have a sense of security and confidence from the moment you enter our sunny, first floor, neighborhood location. At Montesshare, we understand the anxiety of separation as we understand the relationship between emotion and learning. We are committed to sharing the challenges and successes of this special phase in life, from our beautiful homey environment and intimate ratios to our flexible schedules and affordable rates, we make it easy to share this part of your family’s journey!

Silver Oaks Cooperative School

Silver Oaks Cooperative School

At Silver Oaks Cooperative School we are committed to spirited learning, growth, development and fun.  We empower our students to ask insightful questions, explore their world, and learn to become independent thinkers and doers.  We invite parents into the classroom, where they play a critical role in their child’s education. Come learn more about the school and discover an education built differently!

Dreamed up over play dates and late night texts, Silver Oaks Cooperative School is the creation of two moms with a deep background in education and passion for learning. Alicia and Annette collectively have 24 years of experience in public elementary education.  Our parenting and educational experiences have cemented our desire for a new type of elementary school.  We can’t find an affordable, community-driven, child-centered school in our area, so we’re building it.

Julia Brown Schools – Columbia

Julia Brown Schools – Columbia

At The Julia Brown Schools, we work with nature, not against it, in helping your child achieve his or her goal. Our program accepts the endless energies, the creative impulses, and insatiable curiosities of the children and gradually directs their efforts into rewarding channels.

Children have a strong natural desire to learn. This desire can best be nurtured by allowing the child to choose his or her own activities and to work at his or her own pace. No one can produce a better lesson schedule than the one produced by the child’s own interests. When they are ready for each step in their development, their enthusiasm for this part of the program is obvious. As an observer of oe of our classes you find the children choosing their own work and busily pursuing their goals. Our quiet, calm classrooms are due to the students preoccupation with their work.

Our Head and Founder, Siri Fiske’s article titled, “A Better Way to Teach the Gifted–And Everyone Else”, was recently published in The Wall Street Journal for her innovative ideas on K-12 education, many of which are embodied in our school.

Echelon Academy

Echelon Academy

Each student at Echelon Academy has a student Blueprint that specifies key learning goals and levels of achievement. Plans are designed by our director, teachers, and parents. Learning plans are reviewed and modified as necessary. Regularly, the school faculty meets to discuss and actively manage individual student progress.

Echelon Academy employs the very best research-based curriculum and instructional methodologies. Our curriculum content is carefully aligned to the learning standards outlined in the Maryland Common Core State Curriculum. Where necessary, appropriate modifications and adaptations are made to ensure all students can access academic material at personally challenging levels.

Echelon Academy offers a journey of engaged learning through the teaching of arts. A positive and encouraging learning community where achievement happens more efficiently and with ease as teachers and students work cooperatively, heading the same direction, traveling on the thrust of one another, standing by one another, and honking in encouragement.

Esh’e lan – a squadron V formation which allows geese to conserve energy by using the uplift of air from the goose in front of it. By flying in a V formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own. This formation allows each bird to have an unobstructed field of vision, allowing flock members to see each other and communicate while in flight. The geese take turns leading; there isn’t one designated leader. As one bird tires, it drops to the back of the formation and another takes its place.
