What differentiates your care center from all the others?
The Maternelle (age 2 to 5) is the beginning of formalized instruction in French and English. The highly educated and trained teachers follow the French curriculum focusing on 5 areas: oral language and written word discovery, math and logical thinking, discovering the world (time, space, nature..), physical education, visual arts and music. The aim is to provide a stimulating environment for learning and socialization and to help them become independent. It sets the foundational skills for fluency in two languages and the confidence for success in school and beyond.
What is your philosophy regarding childcare?
The philosophy of the French Maternelle (starting age 2) is to provide a structured educational program in a warm and nurturing environment. We want the children to want to come to school! Children begin to learn and socialize while acquiring the building blocks needed for academic success in both French and English. The approach is interdisciplinary and project oriented using an overall theme in which the various disciplines such as logical thinking, mathematics, communication, oral and written skills, relation of the body in space through physical education are brought together in a way that is both stimulating and fun. Children are encouraged to explore in a structured, yet open atmosphere that facilitates and inspires learning at this young age.
What lead you to operate a childcare center?
The French educational system is renowned for its program in early childhood education, the Maternelle. School in France starts at age 2 or 3.
