Grace Episcopal Day School

    • Rating

Grace Episcopal Day School is a small school (approximately 100 students) with a big mission: to provide an excellent, well-rounded education to the diverse community of children who make up our city and our world. With over 63% of our student body composed of students of color, Grace reflects the rich diversity of the Washington, DC metro area. Like our founders in 1960, we believe that we are all better individuals when we are a part of a varied and inclusive whole.

At Grace, our focus is on the most important years of childhood: ages 3-11. We are committed to meeting children where they are and helping them to grow. Our eleven-acre campus offers easy access to the outdoors, with time each day for nature exploration, PE, and recess. Music, art, library, and weekly chapel and assembly help to cultivate creativity and develop confidence, oracy, and performance skills. From Kindergarten and up, Spanish and technology round out a suite of twenty-first century skills. Finally, as an Episcopal school, we are passionately committed to raising individuals who serve others, appreciate the wonder of our world, and feel connected to a larger whole.

Grace graduates have an impressive record of outplacement and success in middle and high school; but more importantly, they grow into nimble thinkers, confident individuals, and compassionate citizens.

  1. We live in DC, not far from Silver Spring, and love our 15 minute commute to Grace. But even more importantly, the teachers at the school have had meaningful and lasting impacts on our two very different children in incredibly important ways. They are voracious readers and inspired writers and love science and art. The autobiography projects that all second graders complete have become family keepsakes. We appreciate the academic rigor, but also appreciate the way in which the environment fosters risk taking and leadership, even among ‘shy’ kids. We can’t say enough good things about our experience.

  2. It’s always been a true jewel and is a great place for children to learn and grow. If you are even close to the Kensington area do yourself a favor and check it out.
