Browne Academy

Browne Academy

Mission
Browne Academy is a diverse independent day school committed to developing the whole child through extraordinary teaching, exceptional academic programs, and a nurturing community. We empower students to be critical thinkers, inspired innovators, engaged peers, and ethical leaders prepared with the confidence to thrive in a dynamic world.

Philosophy
Browne Academy began as one of the first integrated schools in Virginia. Today that spirit of inclusion endures, as our core values – excellence, diversity, character, and community – are an integral part of our school’s tapestry. By encouraging all members of our community to exemplify these values every day, we are building a foundation of empathy and respect that will serve our students throughout their lives.

We believe in providing our students with experiential learning opportunities that encourage thoughtful questioning, personal engagement, use of the greater community, and a deeper understanding of the world. Through our inquiry-based approach, we strive to foster our students’ natural curiosity and develop their lifelong love of learning.

We intentionally keep our class sizes small to nurture each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Students feel safe and cared for in such an environment, and as a result, we see them thrive. Our graduates are equipped both academically and personally to navigate life after Browne Academy with confidence.

Browne Academy’s Core Values
Excellence. We value and encourage the pursuit of one’s personal best in every endeavor within the Browne Academy community.

Diversity. We value and advocate for the richness of a multicultural community, composed of members with various perspectives and backgrounds, that fosters global awareness through mutual respect and understanding.

Character. We value and honor each individual and seek to cultivate integrity, moral responsibility, service, and citizenship.

Community. We value and support the common interests and shared goals of our entire Browne Academy family within a nurturing and safe environment.

Westminster School

Westminster School

Westminster’s overall program is based on the belief that children between the ages of three and fourteen are naturally dominated by curiosity and enthusiasm. To satisfy and stimulate this appetite for learning and accomplishment, Westminster presents a well-rounded, challenging curriculum steeped in the classics and enhanced by the arts. The purposeful classroom environment emphasizes thorough mastery of subject, high standards of achievement, good study habits, and personal responsibility.

Art and music classes are part of the weekly schedule for all grades and dance is included as a regular part of the PE program. A unique aspect to Westminster School is its drama program. All students participate in theater, performing in a class play every year, culminating with a Shakespeare play in the 7th grade and a Broadway musical in the 8th grade.

This rich and varied program is supported by extensive optional extracurricular clubs and activities, including Builders Club (community service), Chess, Chorus, Orchestra, French Club, Math Counts, Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, as well as team sports in basketball, soccer, softball, and track and field. Athletic competitions, art exhibitions, math contests, science fairs, and talent shows provide many opportunities for students to explore and share their talents.

Westminster parents appreciate that the daily school life is supported by an array of programs, including small-group teacher-provided academic support which is built into the school day, extended care, summer and intersession camps, frequent field trips, after-school enrichment classes, door-to-door bus service, and an optional lunch program.

Brooksfield School

Brooksfield School

Brooksfield School is a unique pre k-4th Montessori school idyllically situated on 5 beautiful acres in McLean, Va. Experience the adventure!

At Brooksfield, children become friends for life. Starting with pre-K and continuing through the fourth grade, Brooksfield makes learning an adventure. In a world in which manners, civility and love of knowledge are quickly disappearing, Brooksfield offers families an alternative that combines the best of today with the best of yesterday.

The Brooksfield Difference

Although our activities vary in subject matter, our approach to the child is consistent. A positive tone, reassuring words and constructive feedback have all become a Brooksfield trademark. Through training that guides our teachers to encourage grace and courtesy toward others, peaceful negotiations and resolutions, respect of oneself and the environment and compassion for all, we lead children toward developing responses that are thoughtful, considerate, appreciative, honest and polite. We find that this approach forms deep-rooted bonds among our students that last beyond the years they spend on our campus.

Fusion Academy Tysons

Fusion Academy Tysons

Fusion Academy is a revolutionary private middle and high school where positive relationships unlock academic potential. We are a non-traditional community of learning with the smallest class size possible: one student and one teacher per classroom. This allows us to personalize curriculum for each student’s unique strengths, interests, and learning style. We are also able to customize scheduling; students may enroll at any time (even during the summer) and take classes at a time of day that works best for them.

Our supportive staff and campus environment provide a safe space for students to flourish emotionally, socially, and academically. It includes a state-of-the-art recording studio and a mixed-media art studio for students to express their creativity. Our Homework Café® is where students complete all their homework before they leave for the day with help and supervision from a teacher.

Classes are offered at three levels: essential, college prep, and honors. From algebra to yoga and everything in between, we have a wide variety of classes to choose from. Students can enroll full-time, take classes for credit, or utilize our tutoring services. In addition to academics, we partner with outside therapeutic professionals to support students’ emotional health and help foster a balanced life.

While it’s impossible to put our students into categories, we generally serve students with the following backgrounds: ADHD, accelerated/gifted learners, dyslexia, mild learning differences, social challenges, school anxiety, or students with challenging schedules. Students who attend Fusion have one thing in common: traditional school isn’t working.

The Gardner School

The Gardner School

At The Gardner School, we have created a rich learning environment that will stimulate your child’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. We believe that each child should be provided with experiences that enhance self-esteem, which is essential in the adjusting, exploring and growing stages of child development. This approach ensures that each child’s learning experience will be nurtured at the proper pace, and will give them a strong educational foundation for a bright future.

Our Herndon school will offer year-round full and part-time childcare with early childhood education programs for children six weeks old through private Pre-K. In addition, we will also provide a full suite of enrichment classes and our summer camp, Camp Gardner. All of our lead teachers have four year degrees in early childhood education, elementary education or a closely related field. The stimulating, creative and educationally engineered school has been designed to meet the needs of our most important client… the children. Attention to detail both inside and outside the classroom is what makes The Gardner School a very special place for young children.

Muna’s Childcare

Muna’s Childcare

At Muna’s Childcare we know how stressful it can be to think of leaving your most “prized possession”, your infant and/or toddler in the care of a total stranger or even left at a public daycare with the lack of attention each child needs. Let me ease your mind by providing you with our services and why we are different.

This will technically be their home away from home while you work in order to provide a good life for them. What this means is that we treat your little angel the same way you would. They are loved, cuddled, talked to, fed, changed and given a routine to their life which makes it ultimately a lot easier for you and for them to adjust to basically having two homes – a day home and a night/weekend home.

Our goal is to offer a safe, fun, and happy place for the children where they can play, learn and grow at their own pace. Children will participate in free play, reading, art work, drawing, music, singing, dancing, outside play time and much more. We have a fun educational and loving environment home child care.

Meeting House Cooperative Preschool

Meeting House Cooperative Preschool

Meeting House Cooperative Preschool (MHCP) provides an exceptional, developmentally appropriate education for preschoolers.  MHCP uses the emergent learning curriculum model as the basis for the children’s education program.  This developmentally based curriculum accepts the children as active learners who learn through play.  The adult guides the children through productive and meaningful play.  It is through the adult guidance that the children develop independence and responsibility for their learning.

VHBC Preschool

VHBC Preschool

VHBC Preschool is a competent and affordable early childhood education facility in our suburban community is a high priority need. Our first program was launched more than 50 years ago to meet the important desire of mothers for a safe place for their children while they enjoyed some “child-free” hours each week.

While our motive at the inception of the program was to provide a day out for mothers, we have consistently set our goals to have an increasingly rich and varied age-appropriate curriculum for the children.

This program is set in an environment where children can experiment and make choices. There are many avenues for creativity and stimulation for the child’s curiosity.

Virginia Hills Baptist Church has traditionally been a church seeking new ways of serving its community. This program was established as a means of enlarging the scope of that ministry. The facilities and equipment are furnished almost entirely by the church, while the program itself is self-supporting and non-profit.”
