Elementary-aged students from varied backgrounds within Washington, DC need access to learning which values and highlights diversity, utilizes group and independent work skills, and incorporates relevant technology in order to be better prepared for the unknown, ever-changing future that awaits them. Capitol Learning Academy will fill this need by providing innovative learning experiences, based in problem-solving, to bolster curiosity and push students to think, explore, question and learn from themselves, technology resources, and their community.
Capitol Learning Academy will cater to families from all socioeconomic backgrounds of Washington, DC, through an indexed tuition model and forward thinking curriculum. The education model will put students at the center of their own learning, allowing them to spend the majority of their school day working in multi-age small groups to solve real-world problems, while developing skills and knowledge that apply to their group projects. Teachers will work with students in small groups throughout the day, to address foundational skills in math and literacy, and will facilitate students as they design their own learning path through experiences, technological exploration and community interactions.
