Discover the Pinecrest difference! At Pinecrest School, we recognize children’s potential. We see their raised hands, we hear their questions, and we understand how they learn best. Our small class sizes give teachers the ability to differentiate their instruction to various learning styles, allowing students to progress with confidence. Our challenging academic program utilizes a variety of instructional methods to emphasize problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Our positive social and emotional environment reinforces basic values such as honesty, integrity, respect for others, and an appreciation for diversity and encourages family involvement in the school experience. Pinecrest School was recognized as “Best Private Preschool” (2015), “Best Private Elementary School” (2015) and “Best Summer Day Camp” (2014) in Washington FAMILY Magazine Best for Families Readers’ Surveys.
Pinecrest’s school-year programs include half-day preschool, Monday through Friday, for three- and four-year-olds and full-day kindergarten through sixth grade. In addition to classroom academics, students also participate in enrichment classes on a regular basis during the school day – all students take Spanish, music and physical education; K-6 students add computer and art. In the fall of 2016, Pinecrest will be opening its brand new lower school building, which will serve preschoolers-first graders.
Before-care starting at 7:30 a.m. and after-care until 6 p.m. is available to preschool and K-6 students during the school year. Pinecrest Summer Pavilion, our eight-week summer camp, offers half-day and full-day sessions for rising K-6 campers (before- and after-care is available). We also offer an eight-week, half-day summer camp, Preschool Pavilion, for four-year olds.

Pinecrest School is committed to providing a positive social and emotional environment for student development. The school provides an atmosphere that bolsters self-confidence and equips its students with the cognitive skills necessary to undertake and succeed in rigorous academic pursuits throughout their lives. It strives to reinforce basic values such as honesty, integrity, respect for others, and an appreciation for diversity.
Family involvement in the Pinecrest educational experience, low student-teacher ratios, caring and committed teachers, and a cohesive school community combine with a rigorous educational program to foster the development in students of high self-esteem, independence, responsibility, and an eagerness to meet challenges. Our ability to meet the individual needs of children, in close consultation with their parents, enables each student to grow academically, socially, and emotionally at his or her own pace within a nurturing and supportive educational environment.
